There were dragons when I was a boy

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third is the tenacious, spirited son of Stoick the Vast, chieftain of Berk. No longer a runt —but still lanky by comparison— Hiccup is the island's ace flier and resident dragon expert.

Celebrated as a hometown hero for ushering in an era of peace between Vikings and dragons, Hiccup now prefers to spend his time saving dragons who are caught by the trappers or hunters with the help of his fellow dragon riders and his trusty Night Fury, Toothless. With his goal to make his island as a place where a life of harmony between dragons and Vikings exists, he turns Berk into a safe haven for all dragons.

Once a feared dragon, Toothless (the only known Night Fury), was the first to be trained. After going against the Bewilderbeast (an Alpha dragon species), Toothless becomes the Alpha of ALL dragons. Highly intelligent, fiercely loyal, and ferociously loving, Toothless is more like family than friend.

Once comfortable, Toothless is intensely playful, behaving more like a critter than a killer. His intelligence and empathy also appears to allow a degree of creativity, as shown when he mimicked Hiccup's drawing. He even got upset when his "art" was stepped on! A dry sense of humor, big heart, and a winning smile make Toothless and Hiccup mirror images of each other, and they are rarely out of each other's company.

Early Life
ㅤHiccup was born on to a viking couple of House Haddock. His father, Stoick the Vast, was the chief of the Hairy Hooligan tribe; his mother, Valka, was one of the female warrior of the tribe.
ㅤAt that time, Berk was still at war against the dragons. His mother was against fighting the dragon, thinking that it would only become a chain of hatred and life of killed-or-be-killed cycle.
ㅤOne day, when the village was being raided by the dragons, a Stormcutter dragon broke into the Haddocks house, finding newly born Hiccup in the cradle alone. His mother rushed back home to save him, however, she ended up being taken by the dragon and presumed by the whole village to be eaten by the dragon.

Defying Normalities
ㅤAs he grew, Hiccup became the runt of a viking, smaller built and much less of a brawn than normal viking. However, even at the young age, he was proven to be smarter than normal viking. He later became an apprentice blacksmith of the village's blacksmith, Gobber the Belch who was also a very close friend of his father.
ㅤBeing the son of the chief and a resident of a village that was constantly fighting the dragons, Hiccup grew a need to be dragon killer. He thought it was the only way to get the attention he needs from his father and to be accepted by the other vikings as one of them.
ㅤOne day, during a dragon raid, he managed to shoot down a night fury with his mangler (bola shooter). However, he ended up destroying half of the village and setting up free the caught dragons with many farm animals; it nearly left Berk short of food for Winter. Everyone, especially his father, was frustrated by it and completely in disbelief of his claim to have shot down a Night Fury. So his father decided to send him to Dragon Killing Academy with the other teenagers of his age while his father and other adult vikings set out to sea to find the dragon nest.Meeting Toothless
ㅤFrustrated by how he was treated, he went to the woods to find the dragon he shot down and also to vent and rant out all of his frustration. However, once he found it stuck in the net, he could not kill it. He let it go only to realise a day later that it was trapped in a cove, deep in the forest because it could not fly. It had one side of its tail broken.

Adult
ㅤFinally becoming chief after defeating Drago the Warlord and his dragons armada, Hiccup focused on repairing the village. With the help of everyone in the village, including the freed dragons, Berk quickly getting repaired. Some huts even refurbished using the chief's designs.
ㅤShortly after that, however, Hiccup, Astrid, and company were called upon to assist the people of Nepenthe. In Nepenthe, they were to investigate on the island which has been plagued with earthquakes that grew louder and louder each time.
